Jehanita obtained a BSc in Psychology from the University of Bath including a placement year at UC Berkeley’s Language and Cognitive Development lab and Nanyang Technological University’s Centre for Population Health Sciences. After graduating, she joined a Southeast Asian digital therapeutics startup providing digital solutions to support individuals in improving their physical and mental health using a multidisciplinary approach. There, she led a variety of research projects evaluating the effectiveness of digitally-delivered interventions and developing strategies to implement and improve behavioural health interventions. In addition, she was involved in a research project at Imperial College London examining the experiences of NHS staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which she focused particularly on the experiences of staff from ethnic minority backgrounds.

Jehanita is primarily interested in the bidirectional relationship between physical and mental health and in understanding the biological mechanisms that underpin these relationships, leading her to complete an MSc in Clinical Neuropsychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience (IoPPN) at Kings College London. Her master's thesis focused on childhood adversity as a shared risk factor involved in the overlap between severe mental illnesses and autoimmune diseases. During this PhD programme, Jehanita is keen to experiment with a variety of techniques and perspectives that she is hoping to bring together in an interdisciplinary project.

Outside of academia, Jehanita can usually be found running outdoors or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
